Business card design tips
- Keep text and logos at least 0.125″ inside the trim line so nothing gets cut off.
- Use 8pt type or larger for phone numbers and emails so they stay readable.
- Supply artwork as a high-resolution PDF (300 DPI) in CMYK colour.
- If you use a dark background, extend it into the bleed area.
- Two-sided cards give you room for a QR code, services list or booking link.

What size are standard business cards in Canada?
The standard size in Canada and the US is 3.5″ × 2″ (88.9 × 50.8 mm). European cards are 85 × 55 mm, which won’t fit most North American card holders.
What is the difference between 14pt and 16pt cardstock?
The number is the thickness in thousandths of an inch: 14pt is 0.014″ and 16pt is 0.016″. 16pt feels noticeably stiffer and more premium; 14pt is a solid, economical choice.
Can you design my business card?
